Why exactly would any one think this is okay? And how did it get by the Cornell IRB?

It got past the IRB because they gave it a positive spin, most likely, as something that would help the girls, instead of hurt them.

One wonders if there was anyone who did follow-up as to whether everything was done and the girls were helped.

I read this from someone else's link earlier. I just kept getting madder and sadder as I read. I cannot believe they actually are doing this in the name of 'science'.
